How free chapters work on ArewaPen (and why they are real web pages)

Many story apps hide every paragraph behind a login wall. ArewaPen takes the opposite approach for free chapters: if an author marks a chapter free and keeps the book on the web, that chapter is a normal web page with the story text in the HTML.

Why that matters for readers. You can open a WhatsApp or Instagram link, land on the chapter, and start reading immediately. No account, no install, no waiting for an OTP. When the story hooks you, create a free account to save progress, follow the author, or unlock paid chapters with your Refill wallet.

Why that matters for writers. Discovery dies when a shared link shows only a cover and a sign-up form. Public free chapters let strangers sample your voice. The standard strategy still works: keep the opening chapters free, then move to paid once readers are invested. You control the switch per chapter.

Where to find free reading. Start at arewapen.com/public/home for shelves of popular and new titles. Open a book page to see the description, author bio, and table of contents. Free chapters link to /public/chapter/[id]—a reader page built for phones and search engines alike. Paid chapters still ask you to sign in and unlock.

What stays private. Mature (17+) books and App Only titles are not offered as public full-text pages. Paid chapter bodies stay behind purchase. That balance keeps the open library useful for discovery while protecting creators who need tighter controls.

If you are new, pick one popular free chapter tonight, finish it in one sitting, then decide whether to follow the author. That is the ArewaPen reading loop: sample in the open, continue when you care.
