Nana, feeling a mix of shock and disbelief, stood frozen in her spot after witnessing the interaction between Boddo and Kamal. She couldn't believe her ears and struggled to comprehend the depth of Boddo's feelings for their eldest brother. As she watched Kamal walk away, pretending not to have heard anything, Nana's heart sank.
Unable to contain her emotions, Nana rushed towards Boddo, her mind filled with a whirlwind of thoughts. She found Boddo sitting on a bench, her face pale and tear stained. Nana took a deep breath, gathering her strength, and approached her with a mix of concern and curiosity.
"Boddo," Nana began, her voice trembling slightly. "I... I overheard your conversation with Kamal. I couldn't help but hear what you said. Is it true? Are you in love with Ya Kamal?"
Boddo's eyes widened, a mix of panic and vulnerability flickering in her gaze. She never intended for anyone to hear her confession, especially not Nana, who was like a sister figure to her. "Nana, I..." Boddo stammered, struggling to find the right words to explain herself. "I didn't mean for you to hear that. It's just... these feelings, they've become so overwhelming, and I don't know what to do."
Nana's expression softened, and she took Boddo's hand in hers, offering her comfort and support. " Boddo, love is a complicated thing, and sometimes it can lead us down unexpected paths. But we must remember our duties and responsibilities. You're already married to Kamal's on younger brother and, my own brother too, and it would be a grave sin to pursue such a forbidden relationship. Thank goodness! He had his earpiece plug to his ears if he had heard you I don't know what would have happen today."
Tears streamed down Boddo's face as she nodded, understanding the weight of Nana's words, this is the first time she's having such feelings towards anyone. Kamal is her first love. "I know, Nana. I know it's wrong, but my heart... it aches. I can't help the way I feel."
Nana's eyes filled with compassion as she embraced Boddo, offering her solace in this moment of turmoil. "I understand, my dear. Love can be a cruel, but we must find strength within ourselves to navigate through it. We need to prioritize our family's well being and honor the commitments we have made."
Boddo clung to Nana, finding comfort in her words and guidance. She knew deep down that Nana was right, but it didn't diminish the pain she felt in her heart. Together, they sat there, seeking solace in each other's presence, as they contemplated the complexities of love and family.
As Kamal crouched in the corner, his heart sank with each word he heard from Nana and Boddo's conversation. The realization that Boddo reciprocated his feelings left him torn between joy and despair. On one hand, he felt a glimmer of hope knowing that he wasn't alone in his emotions. On the other hand, the weight of their circumstances weighed heavily upon him.
He couldn't fathom how Boddo, whom he had always seen as a young and innocent girl, could understand and experience such complex emotions. He had believed that their age difference and their roles within the family would protect them from the entanglements of forbidden love. But now, faced with the truth, he couldn't deny the depth of his own feelings for her. In the solitude of his thoughts, Kamal contemplated the consequences of pursuing a relationship with Boddo. He knew that their love would be met with resistance, judgment, and potentially severe consequences. Their family's honor and stability would be at stake, and he couldn't bear the thought of causing further pain and turmoil.
As he listened to Nana's wise words and guidance, he recognized the significance of her role in Boddo's life. Nana's presence provided comfort and support for Boddo, and he knew that she would help guide her away from falling to this forbidden relationship. With a heavy heart, Kamal made a difficult decision. He would suppress his feelings, burying them deep within himself for the sake of their family's harmony. It was a sacrifice he felt he had to make, despite the pain it would bring.
8pm...
As Boddo sat at the dining table, her mind was still filled with the encounter she had with Kamal. The weight of unrequited love bore down on her, making it difficult to focus on anything else. She tried her best to put on a facade of normalcy, but her uneasiness did not go unnoticed by her mother-in-law, Haj. Aishatu, and Nana.
Haj. Aishatu observed Boddo's restlessness and exchanged a concerned glance with Nana. Sensing that something was amiss, they decided to address the matter delicately, not wanting to overwhelm Boddo further. "Aunty Boddo," Nana spoke gently, her voice filled with warmth and understanding. "Is everything alright with you? You seem a bit unsettled."
Boddo looked up, her eyes reflecting a mixture of sadness and anxiety. She knew she couldn't share the truth of her feelings for Kamal, the complexity of their situation, or the pain that lingered within her heart. So, she mustered a weak smile and replied, "I'm fine, Nana. Just a little tired, that's all."
Haj. Aishatu, ever perceptive, noticed the sadness behind Boddo's smile. She reached out and touched Boddo's hand, her eyes filled with concern. "You know, my dear, you can always talk to us if something is bothering you. We're here for you, always." " Yes my dear." Her Uncle Bappah said, despite him not paying much attention to what's happening at the dining table, as he concentrate more on his meal.
Boddo's heart swelled with gratitude for the love and support she had in the family. But the weight of her unrequited love for Kamal felt like an insurmountable burden, one she couldn't bear to share at that moment. "I appreciate it, Mom," Boddo whispered, her voice trembling slightly. "But it's just a phase I'm going through, maybe is because we're starting exams soon. I'll be fine."
" Don't worry Boddo'an. I know you will do just fine you're very brave and intelligent so, don't be afraid you can do it." Alh. Gidado said. Boddo smiles at him trying her best to hide her pain. Haj. Aishatu and Nana exchanged glances again, knowing that there was more to Boddo's distress than she was willing to reveal. But they respected her need for privacy, understanding that some battles must be fought alone. Nana pitying her little Aunty Boddo a lot knowing her situation but, there's nothing she can do to help.
The meal continued in an atmosphere tinged with unspoken emotions. Boddo's mind wandered, her appetite diminished by the weight of her unrequited love. She glanced at Kamal, who sat across the table, trying to maintain a composed facade despite the turmoil that swirled within him. Their eyes met briefly, and Boddo's heart skipped a beat, the intensity of their connection momentarily overpowering her.
Maman Nana and the rest feels Boddo's only trying to get attention as always. As Yidi sat down at the dining table, the scent of the food that once brought her joy now made her nauseous. The mere thought of eating made her stomach churn. She tried to force herself to take a bite, but the aversion was too strong. Her appetite vanished, leaving her feeling weak and lightheaded.
Suddenly, Yidi's vision blurred, and her body gave way. She collapsed onto the floor, unconscious. The entire family gasped in shock, their worry and concern evident on their faces. Haj. Aishatu rushed to Yidi's side, her voice trembling with panic. "Yidi! Yidi, wake up!"
Nana and Boddo were overcome with fear, their eyes wide with distress. Aunty Amina, on the other hand, knowing the actual situation of Yidi and she don't want the secret out now , understanding the gravity of the situation. Being a medical professional, she knew that she has only one choice and is to quickly take charge of the situation, Aunty Amina asked the family to give them some space. "Please, let me check on her," she said, her voice calm yet urgent.
Reluctantly, the family moved away, allowing Aunty Amina to attend to Yidi. Gently, Aunty Amina checked Yidi's pulse and vital signs, her experienced hands moving with precision and care. As she did, she noticed the telltale signs that confirmed her suspicion. Yidi's condition was not a result of a simple fainting episode but, it was something more profound.
Once Aunty Amina had assessed Yidi's condition, she carefully helped her regain consciousness. Yidi blinked, disoriented and weak, but relief washed over her as she saw Aunty Amina's familiar face. "Yidi, my dear," Aunty Amina began softly, "I believe I know what might be causing your recent symptoms. We should talk in private."
In the privacy of that space, Aunty Amina spoke gently but firmly, "Yidi, I believe you might be pregnant."
Yidi's eyes widened in shock, and tears welled up in her eyes. She never wanted the truth to be out but now it was confirmed by Aunty Amina what can she do?
"Please," Yidi pleaded, her voice trembling, "don't tell anyone, Aunty. Not yet. I'm not ready for the family to know."
Aunty Amina nodded understandingly, her compassionate gaze fixed on Yidi. "I promise, Yidi. Your secret is safe with me. But we need to take the necessary steps to ensure wh... " Is everything alright I'm there?." Haj. Aisha asked, standing next to the door as she's already in. " Yes! She's fine. She's just a little weak maybe she's not paying attention to herself lately." Aunty Amina response.
Haj. Aishatu seems to have a little bit of doubt but, she can't bring herself to believe something like that can happen around them with Yidi. She always tries to ignore such thought. On the other hand Maman Nana clearly sees through the ongoing drama but wishes to watch it to the end without uttering a word about it. As Hadi has already cought Yidi and Ahijjo in the room making out, but as they didn't know she saw them neither did she let them know she saw them but, she told her mother since then they have been monitoring Yidi and Ahijjo's movements quietly.
Kamal has already left since the beginning of it, as for Ahijjo he's curious and having sort of thoughts about what could be wrong with her and how she changes lately and ignoring him all the time. He's not paying any attention to her as he's done with her and he's already in love with another new found girl.
After sometime and Yidi's fine everyone left to their room. Boddo excused herself and made her way to her room. She longed for solace, a space where she could confront her feelings without the prying eyes of others. She closed the door, allowing the tears she had been holding back to finally flow freely.
In the privacy of her room, Boddo let her emotions pour out, her sobs echoing in the silence. She grieved for the love that could never be, for the pain of longing that weighed heavily on her heart. It was a cathartic release, a necessary step towards healing and finding a way to move forward. Even though her friend told her it was love. Boddo sometimes asked herself if it's really love or she's just used to having him around or something.
As the tears subsided, Boddo wiped her cheeks and took a deep breath. She resolved to cherish whatever she felt for Kamal, even if it could only exist in the depths of her heart. She would focus on her own growth and happiness, finding strength in the love of her family and the support of Nana, who had always been her guiding light.
Tanimu paced back and forth in his room, holding his phone tightly in his hand. He had just ended the call with Kamal, agreeing to meet up at their regular meeting place later in the evening. But as he stood there, a wave of uncertainty washed over him. Should he reveal the secret about the DNA test to Kamal? Or should he keep it hidden, protecting both Kamal and the the potential turmoil it could cause?
" No wonder! Dr. Haydar was forced to resign. Such a heavy secret." He softly whispered to himself. The weight of the secret pressed heavily on Tanimu's conscience. He finally had the DNA result in his hand, and the truth it revealed was a delicate and dangerous one. It had the power to lift him up and it can also disrupt the his happiness if didn't play it. Tanimu contemplate his decision on who to go after.
Taking a deep breath, Tanimu made up his mind. He would meet with Kamal but withhold the secret for now. He hoped that by doing so, he could blackmail Dr. Gidado to get what he want. While keeping Kamal on the other hand if the need for him to use him arise.....
