The Man In My Dream

Dedicated Doctor

Noor's alarm rang promptly at 5:30am, as it did every morning. She groggily turned it off, resisting the urge to hit the snooze button. With a deep sigh, she swung her legs over the edge of the bed and rubbed her eyes, slowly rousing herself from sleep. As a dedicated doctor, Noor was accustomed to early mornings, but that didn't mean she enjoyed them.

She slipped into her white coat, the emblem of her profession, and adjusted her stethoscope around her neck. Looking at her reflection in the mirror, she tied her dark hair into a neat bun and she covered it with a scarf, determined to appear as professional as possible. With one last glance around her sparsely decorated room, Noor grabbed her bag and headed out the door.

As she descended the stairs, the aroma of freshly cooked breakfast greeted her. Her mother, Haj. Basira, had already set the table with an array of dishes: warm flatbread, scrambled eggs, and a bowl of sliced fruits. Her younger brother, Nura, was already seated at the table, engrossed in a book.

"Good morning, Mom. Morning, Nurah," Noor greeted them with a slight smile, her voice betraying her preoccupied mind.

"Good morning, Noor," her mother replied warmly, her eyes revealing a mix of concern and affection. "Sit down, dear. Have some breakfast before you rush off."

Nurah looked up from his book and grinned. "Hey, sis! Don't miss out on Mom's delicious breakfast this time."

Noor managed a half-hearted smile. "I appreciate it, guys, but I'm running a bit late today. Gotta get to the hospital."

Haj. Basira's expression softened, concern etching lines on her forehead. "Noor, you can't keep skipping breakfast like this. It's not healthy."

Noor's gaze softened as she looked at her mother. "I know, Mom. I promise I'll have something at the hospital."

Nura chimed in, concern lacing his voice as well. "Seriously, Noor. You're working so hard. Take care of yourself, okay?"

Noor felt a pang of guilt but brushed it aside. "I will, Nurah. Don't worry."

She quickly downed a glass of water and gave each of them a quick hug before grabbing her bag and heading for the door. Her mother's voice followed her, filled with both love and worry. "Noor, remember to take a break once in a while. Your health is important."

As Noor walked briskly towards her car, she couldn't help but replay her mother's words in her mind. She knew they were right, but her dedication to her work often overshadowed everything else. Her patients depended on her, and she couldn't afford to let them down.

As she started the engine, Noor's resolve tightened. She was a brilliant doctor, and her commitment to her profession was unyielding. But little did she know that the events set in motion that day would lead her on a journey of self-discovery, challenging her priorities and unearthing long-buried desires.

Noor's car, a sleek and well maintained sedan, was a testament to her efficiency. She slid into the driver's seat, her mind already racing through the tasks that awaited her at the hospital. Her fingers tapped out a quick message on her phone, notifying her team that she was enroute.

As Noor navigated through the city's bustling streets, her phone chimed with a response from her co-worker, Dr. Salis. They had worked together for years, and their partnership was founded on mutual respect for each other's dedication to their patients.

Dr. Salis "Good morning, Noor. The cases are piling up, as always. See you in the trenches. "

Noor smiled at the message, appreciating Dr. Salis's dry sense of humor even in the face of their relentless workload. She quickly typed a response.

"Morning, Salis. Ready to tackle them. Let's do this."

Upon arriving at the hospital, Noor's brisk pace continued. She was greeted by the familiar faces of the nursing staff, including her close friend Salma, whose infectious energy always brightened Noor's day.

Salma, a dedicated nurse with a heart of gold, approached her with a warm smile. "Morning, Noor! You're here bright and early, as usual."

Noor returned the smile, appreciating the camaraderie they shared. "Morning, Salma. What's the status today?"

Salma rattled off a list of updates on patients and the day's schedule, her efficiency matching Noor's own. They were a well-oiled machine, having worked together for years, and their ability to communicate seamlessly was a testament to their strong professional bond.

Noor's commitment to her work was unwavering, and her busy lifestyle was a reflection of that dedication. Each day was a whirlwind of consultations, surgeries, and research, all driven by her desire to make a meaningful impact on her patients' lives.

As she quickly  headed toward the hospital's bustling ward, Noor couldn't help but feel a sense of purpose. Her life may have been a constant flurry of activity, but it was a life she had chosen, a life dedicated to healing and making a difference.

With Dr. Salis by her side and Salma's unwavering support, Noor was ready to face another challenging day in the world of medicine, confident in her ability to navigate the complex web of responsibilities that came with her commitment to her patients and her profession.

As Noor made her way toward the bustling ward, she couldn't help but notice the familiar figure of Dr. Khalid leaning casually against a wall. He was a man she had come to dislike intensely, known for his reputation as a ladies' man with a flirtatious personality that grated on her nerves.

Dr. Khalid had a penchant for trying to get in her way, always seeming to find opportunities to impress her, or so he believed. Noor had lost count of the times he had tried to engage her in conversations that veered into the uncomfortably personal. It wasn't just his relentless pursuit; it was his complete disregard for boundaries that irked her the most.

Their interactions often left Noor exasperated, but she had perfected the art of handling him with graceful words and a smile that masked her true feelings. It was a form of defense she had developed over the years, an armor against Dr. Khalid's advances that left him even more frustrated.

With a polite but distant nod in his direction, Noor continued walking toward the ward, her white coat swaying with her purposeful strides. Dr. Khalid, however, wasn't one to be deterred so easily. He pushed away from the wall and fell into step beside her.

"Noor, my dear, always in such a hurry," he purred, flashing a toothy grin that made Noor's skin crawl.

She turned to him, her smile polite but distant. "Dr. Khalid, good morning. I have a busy schedule ahead, as usual."

Dr. Khalid's eyes roamed over her, his gaze lingering just a moment too long. "Busy is good, but you shouldn't let it consume you, darling. Life is meant to be enjoyed."

Noor's response was measured, her tone gentle but firm. "I find enjoyment in my work, Dr. Khalid. It's where I can make a difference."

They reached the entrance to the bustling ward, and Noor paused, her smile unwavering. "I must get going. Patients are waiting."

As she stepped inside, leaving Dr. Khalid behind, she couldn't help but feel a sense of victory. She had handled his advances with grace, as she always did. But she knew that Dr. Khalid's determination to win her over, no matter how inappropriate, was far from over.

Dr. Khalid watched her retreating figure with a mixture of frustration and fascination. Noor's ability to rebuff him with kindness and professionalism was maddening, and he had vowed to himself that he would not give up so easily. Noor's rejection was a challenge he couldn't resist, and he was determined to break through her defenses, no matter what it took.

As Noor delved into her work in the bustling ward, she was keenly aware of Dr. Khalid's presence in the hospital, a persistent thorn in her side. Little did she know that their interactions were only the beginning of a battle of wills that would test her patience, her boundaries

, and her resolve in ways she could never have imagined.
