Kamal stood outside Boddo's hospital room, his mind racing with plans and contingencies. He knew he had to keep Boddo's recovery a secret if he was going to get the upper hand against Alh. Sabo and Bahiyya. Taking a deep breath, he stepped back into the room where Dr. Gidado and Datti were still watching over Boddo.
"Datti, Dad," Kamal began, choosing his words carefully, "we need to keep Boddo's awakening confidential. For her safety and ours. We can't let anyone know she's conscious until we find out the people hiding her all these years and hurt her like these as they might try to harm her again ."
Dr. Gidado frowned, his eyes narrowing. "Why such secrecy, Kamal? What aren't you telling us?"
Kamal met his father's gaze, feeling the weight of years of misunderstanding between them. "I believe those people are not easy and would do anything to make sure Boddo never talks. We need to protect her until we can neutralize those threats."
Datti nodded, understanding the gravity of the situation. "I agree with Kamal. We need to be strategic about this."
Dr. Gidado sighed, rubbing his temples. "Alright, but we have to inform the police you can't do this all alone, Kamal. This isn't just about Boddo it's about our entire family."
"I know that, Dad. Just leave everything in my hands and I am also not working alone for this, I have a team working with me."
As Kamal left the hospital, he knew he had to act fast. He pulled out his phone and dialed a number. "Get the team ready. We need to move tonight."
That evening, Kamal met with his team in a secluded location. Among them was a man named Yusuf, a trusted ally and intelligence officer.
"Kamal," Yusuf greeted him, "what's the plan?"
"We're going to lay a trap," Kamal said, his voice steady. "We need to lure Alh. Sabo and MJ into the open. I want surveillance on their known associates and properties. We need to find a weak link."
Yusuf nodded. "Consider it done. And Kamal, be careful. These people are dangerous."
Gidado's Mansion...
Meanwhile, at the Gidado mansion, Dr. Gidado sat in his study, contemplating Kamal's words. The more he thought about it, the more he realized how much he had underestimated his son. He decided to dig into Kamal's background, suspecting that there was more to his life as a supposed thug and business tycoon.
Dr. Gidado opened his laptop and accessed some confidential files. As he read through Kamal's history, he found hints of undercover work, connections to intelligence agencies, and covert operations. His eyes widened with shock and a newfound respect for his son.
"Kamal, what have you been up to all these years?" he muttered to himself, realizing the depth of his son's commitment to protecting the family. He also believe now Kamal was working with Alh. Sabo and MJ not for anything but to undercover what's hidden.
9:26 PM
Boddo slowly opened her eyes, her vision blurry as she tried to make sense of her surroundings. The sterile smell of antiseptic and the faint hum of medical equipment told her she was in a hospital. She felt a hand holding hers and turned to see Datti, asleep beside her. Shocked and confused, she gently shook her hand free, trying not to wake him.
Datti stirred, feeling her movement, and blinked his eyes open. When he saw Boddo looking at him, awake and alert, he sat up quickly, his face a mixture of relief and anxiety.
"Boddo, you're awake!" he exclaimed softly, trying to keep his voice steady.
She looked at him, her eyes filled with questions. "What happened to me? Why am I here?"
Datti hesitated, unsure of how much she remembered or how to begin explaining. "You... you were hurt. We brought you here to...."
The silence that followed was heavy, each second stretching as Boddo's mind raced. She tried to piece together fragmented memories, her head starting to ache with the effort. Flashes of her past her abduction, the dark surrounding, and the recent events rushed back, overwhelming her.
Her breath quickened as the memories flooded in, and she started to scream, clutching her head in pain. "No, no, no! Why is this happening again?!"
Datti tried to calm her, his hands on her shoulders. "Boddo, please, calm down. You're safe now." She pushed his hand away.
As his words didn't reach her. Just then, the door burst open, and Kamal rushed in. Seeing Boddo in distress, he didn't notice Datti as he pushed him aside, his focus solely on his sister. He wrapped his arms around her, pulling her into a protective embrace.
"Boddo, it's okay. I'm here," Kamal whispered, his voice soothing and filled with a tenderness that cut through her panic. "You're safe with me."
Boddo clung to him, her sobs gradually subsiding as Kamal continued to comfort her. He stroked her hair and whispered reassurances, his presence as a calming anchor in the storm of her emotions.
After a few moments, she began to relax, her breathing evening out. She pulled back slightly, looking up at Kamal with tear-filled eyes. "Kamal... Am i dreaming? What happened?"
Kamal exchanged a glance with Datti, who was standing nearby, looking helplessly, watching how Kamal was able to calm Boddo. He felt a pang of jealousy as Boddo clung tightly to Kamal, her breathing evening out under his soothing touch. As her husband, Datti believed he should be the one comforting her, not his brother, Kamal.
Once Boddo was calm, Kamal gently guided her to lie back on the bed. She complied, but her eyes flicked to Datti with a strange, unreadable look.
Kamal turned to Datti, his voice firm but low to avoid alarming Boddo. "You should go home, Datti. Minal and the rest will worry."
Datti's face flushed with anger. "What right do you have to tell me to leave? She's my wife. I should be here, not you."
Boddo's eyes widened at the tension between them, her distress evident. Kamal, noticing this, took Datti by the arm and led him out of the room. Boddo watched them leave, her mind swirling with memories of past arguments that led to her accident and subsequent suffering.
As soon as they were out of earshot, Datti yanked his arm free from Kamal's grip. "Who do you think you are, Kamal? You have no right to be here, telling me what to do. She's my wife!"
Kamal's eyes hardened. "She was your wife, Datti. This isn't about you or me. It's about what Boddo needs right now, and right now, she needs calm. I've been here every day, watching over her day and night. Where were you then? You canβt just walk back in and pretend nothing happened, because she's conscious now."
Datti clenched his fists, his voice rising. "You think you know what's best for her? She needs her husband, and that's what she needs now. Not some self-appointed guardian."
Kamal stepped closer, his voice low and menacing. "This isn't about you being her husband. It's about her feeling safe. She'll decide who she wants in her life, not you. And until then, I'll make sure she's protected, from you or anyone with a motive that will stress her."
Just as the argument was escalating, Minal arrived, her face a mask of concern and frustration. "What's going on here?" she demanded, grabbing Datti by the arm. "You need to come home, Datti. This isn't helping Boddo."
Datti looked from Minal to Kamal, his anger barely contained. "I'm not leaving."
Minal tightened her grip, her eyes flashing. "Yes, you are. You're only making things worse. Let's go."
With a final glare at Kamal, Datti allowed himself to be pulled away by Minal. Kamal watched them go, a mixture of relief and worry on his face. He knew this wasn't the end of their conflict, but for now, Boddo needed peace.
Boddo's Room
Left alone, Boddo lay on the bed, her mind a whirlwind of emotions. She recalled the heated arguments between Datti and Kamal, the tension that had always surrounded her, and how it had all led to her accident. Tears slipped down her cheeks as she tried to piece together her fragmented memories.
The door opened quietly, and Kamal stepped back inside. Seeing her tears, he rushed to her side, his heart aching for his sister.
"Hey, it's okay," he whispered, brushing a tear from her cheek. "Everything will be alright. Just rest now, let me get you something to eat."
Boddo nodded weakly, her eyes closing as she succumbed to exhaustion. Kamal was about to leave the room to get Boddo something to eat when she suddenly grabbed his hand, her eyes wide with fear. Memories of the dark place where she had been held and tortured flooded back, and she clung to him desperately.
"Please, don't leave me," she whispered, her voice trembling.
Kamal tried to gently pry her fingers off his arm. "Boddo, I need to get you something to eat. I'll be right back, I promise."
But she didn't let go, her grip tightening. Seeing the fear in her eyes, Kamal knew he couldn't leave her like this. He sighed and pulled out his phone, dialing a number. "I need you to bring some food to Boddo's room. Yes, right away. Thank you."
As he ended the call, Boddo's grip relaxed slightly. She looked up at him, her eyes filled with relief. "Thank you, Mr. Grumpy." she said softly.
Kamal sat down beside her, holding her hand. 'Mr. Grumpy' the name revolving on his said, it has been ages since she called him that. He smiles staring at her lovely face. "It's okay, Boddo. I'm here. You're safe now."
She nodded, her eyes closing as she leaned back against the pillows. Being near Kamal brought back memories of their past together. Despite everything that had happened, she felt a sense of peace and security with him. She knew, in that moment, that she would never go back to being Datti's wife. She vowed to herself that she would win Kamal's love, no matter what it took, even if it meant going against the entire family.
When the food arrived, Kamal fed her gently, his movements tender and careful. Boddo felt her heart swell with love for him. She cherished the way he cared for her, his presence and constant comfort.
As the night wore on, Kamal knew it wasn't right for him to sleep in the room now that Boddo was conscious. He didn't want to make any suspects or any talks in the family. He decided to call one of his subordinates to stay with her.
He picked up his phone again and dialed. "Hey, I need you to come to the hospital and stay with Boddo for the night, if you're free. Yes, she's awake now. Thanks."
After making the call, Kamal turned to Boddo. "One of my friends will be here soon to stay with you. Iβll still be around, but it's better this way."
Boddo looked at him with a mix of gratitude and longing. "I understand. Thank you for everything, Mr. Grumpy."
Kamal smiled, brushing a strand of hair from her face. "Rest now, Boddo. I'll be just outside if you need anything."
As Kamal left the room, Boddo's thoughts lingered on him. She knew winning his love would not be easy, especially with the family's complicated dynamics. But she was determined. Kamal was her anchor, her hope, and she would do whatever it took to be with him.
Outside the room, Kamal leaned against the wall, his mind racing. Seeing Boddo's fear and vulnerability had stirred something deep within him. He knew he had to protect her, not just from the physical threats but from the emotional turmoil that lay ahead.
As his subordinate arrived, Kamal briefed her quickly. "Stay with her tonight. Keep an eye on her and make sure she's comfortable. Call me if anything happens."
The young woman nodded. "Understood, sir."
Kamal gave her a grateful nod before heading to his temporary room in the hospital. He knew this was just the beginning of a long and challenging journey, but he was ready to face it, for Boddo's sake.
