The knocking sound distracted her from writing. She paused, glanced up at the TV opposite her, and then turned back to her work. Before she said, "Yes, come in."
A young woman who wasn't older than her came in with respect and said, "Ranki ya dade, you have a guest.'"
"Whoo....."
Before she could finish speaking, the door swung open and a young man about four years their senior entered holding the hand of a girl no more than five years old.
"Faryal, you need to talk to this lady," he said. "Every time I come here, she acts like she doesn't know me."
Just as the standing woman was about to respond, Faryal raised her hand and said, "Enough Aysah, you're good to go.'"
"'Okay, ma'am," she said, turning and exiting.
He watched her leave with a side look before walking toward the two chairs in front of the table and taking a seat.
She stood up from her main chair and moved to the opposite side of the table, sitting next to him in the other empty chair, and picked up the little girl, placing her on her lap. Smiling and said, "Good afternoon, sir."
" This your secretary has been giving me a headache every time I visit this company, I'm getting frustrated."
"I'm sorry please hamdan , aysah is just working on her task, but I'll talk to her, in sha allah she won't repeat it again.'"
"I think by now, this lady should have testified that the company and CEO are all mine, tunda da kai da kaya ai duk mallakar wuya ne."
"In sha allah , and you see if you had agreed to what we discussed, they'd all be under you"
"Forget about that, go get me something to drink."
She stood up and asked, "Something cold?"
"Ah, butar shayi zaki kawo min kinji," he replied sarcastically.
She laughed and went to the fridge, saying, " kaii dear it's just a question fa."
"Ah tho, gani nayi you're more knowledgeable than anyone about what I drink and what I don't."
She brought a cup and a bottle of cold water and came back trying to pour for him, but he took it himself saying, "Look, let me reduce work for you, I can do it myself."
She handed it to him and went to fetch a bottle of bobo, saying "dear shall i give this to Naesha, but it's a bit cold."
"Just give it to her, she's attached to it."
"Oh my god, don't tell me the way you used to overindulge in cold drinks, that's how you're giving it to her? If this is true, I really will tell Jiddah to stop letting you take her kid, she's too young for those cold drinks." She said opening the bottle, inserted the straw, and passed it to the girl.
"They can't do anything because the way those kids are stuck on me all the time, I'm sure they don't do the same for their own biological parents."
"That's how kids are, as long as you put yourself on their level and play with them, they'll feel like you're the best thing in the world, they don't have a love like yours."
"Yanzu dai, let me go pick up the kids from school, Cox I'm on my way to their school, and I thought I'd come see my love."
She smiled delighted, before she could make an emotional face , and asked " But why do you always prefer meeting outside?"
" Don't I come to your house ?"
"But..."
"Ah, didn't I come to your house?"
"You used to, but ....."
He laughed and said, " kama kanki da kanki dai, "
"Yanzu dai when will you come ?"
"Insha'Allah, maybe on the weekend."
She stood up and got back to her main chair, saying, "That's how you are all the time. I'll come, I'll come, amma kafin kazo din nan sai naci bakar wuya ."
"Kinga kinga zaki fara ko."
"Shikenan tho nayi shuru, Allah ya kaimu."
His phone started ringing, and he pulled it out of his pocket, answering, "Hello, Khalid."
From the other side, Khalid asked, "Where are you? I'm in your house, and they told me you're not around"
"Kai I'm with my wife, what do you want ? "
"Tho naji me Mata my regards to her."
He turned to her and said, "Khalid sends his regards."
She smiled and said, "I accept his kind regards and extend mine too."
He chuckled and returned to the phone, saying, "She says she doesn't accept your regards."
She quickly corrected, "Oh my god, that's not what I said yallabai."
He hung up, laughing, and said, "Leave him dan iskan yaro ne ai, ya kamata na tafi before the school closes."
"Please be active online today, yesterday you told me you'd come and I've been waiting till 1 am."
He stopped walking and said, "Albishirinki ."
"Goro."
"I just fell asleep when I came back, and before I woke up, yan iskan yaran can su lele turned on my hotspot and used up the remaining data."
She laughed and said, "kai ma dai whl , na rasa kan wanna bacci naka."
"You won't understand, I was just totally tired, by the way."
"But today, really if you don't come online, I'll get angry."
"Don't bother me, I'll come."
"Thom shikenan I will see ,may you reach home safely, naesha my regards to your mom."
"They will all receive your regards" he said , closing the office door .
She started swaying on the chair as he left with a subtle smile on her face expressing her deep happiness, and then softly said, "May Allah show me the day I'll marry you Hamdan and make you my husband until Jannah." She opened her phone and entered the gallery, spending over 30 minutes viewing pictures of her life partner before her phone buzzed she answered.
From the other side, a voice said, "Hello Aunty Faryal, good afternoon."
"Afternoon Bahijjah, how's the work?"
"Everything's going well," Bahijjah replied.
"Masha Allah, that's great," Faryal said.
"Umm, but..." Bahijjah's voice trailed off, hesitant.
"I sense there's a concern Bahijjah. What's wrong?" Faryal asked.
"Actually, it's about the senator's house. They've asked you to come personally for the event decor, even though Deejah and the rest are already there but the woman said she can even add some money for us, but she really wants you to be there to prevent errors."
"Oh, that's not a problem. Just send me the address because their mail is down I can't check it now."
"Okay, Aunty faryal Thank you."
Faryal hung up and picked up the landline, dialing a number. "Hello, Aysah come and give the accountant these documents," she said and hung up.
Without taking much time, Aysah arrived faryal handed her the papers and said, "Give him these and tell him to send the remaining details to my email because I'm going now I have something to handle. Hope we're done with today's schedule."
"Yes, ma'am."
"Alright," she said, packing up her things and putting them inside her bag, then heading outside.
As she came out from the main building, she received greetings from employees with honor and respect. She's a respectful girl who respects her elders, she won't consider that it's her father's company as long as you're older, she will respect you, even if you're a cleaner. That's what makes her a top priority more than her father in the company, and moreover she's a girl of open hands she's not stingy at all.
She entered her car, started the engine, reversed, and headed out as the gate was already open for her. The securities followed her with prayers for safety.
She parked her car in their compound's parking space before opening the door to breathe in fresh air from outside, despite coming from an air-conditioned space. Natural air is different she stepped out, holding her Ankara headtie, adjusting her veil, which was slipping due to her hair's silkiness. She walked calmly up the staircase leading to the main door of the house with a salam in her mouth, "Assalamu alaikum," she said, throwing her things on the floor and removing her medicated glasses. "Maama, Maama, Daadee, I'm back!" she called out as she dropped onto the couch.
"Faryal, you're back early today? Wasn't there a lot of work?" her mother asked, emerging from the kitchen and glancing at the wall clock. Despite their similar features, Faryal's mother looked younger, like she was her sister rather than her mother.
"Kaii maama it's not that early, actually It's just because you're at home that it feels early. It's already past 2 pm fa. The main reason I came back ma is that I had a call from Faryal's Touch of Elegance there's a senator's daughter getting married, and we're doing the mother's event decor. I sent my employees but the bride's mother insists that I join them she doesn't like mistakes, you know how clients are at times." She ended with an exhausted smile that made her more beautiful.
"Ohhhh that's not a big deal If that Hadiyyah is around you should have gone together ma."
"No Maama, don't bother I'll go pick Manira, and if she's not there, then I'll go with Kainat."
"Okay, then call her and check if she's there."
"Okay Maama, but let me take a quick shower first before I run late."
"Olryt but make sure you eat something before you leave, okay? And give her a call to confirm her availability and if she's not there just head to your destination."
She stood and quickly gathered her things that she threw when she came in, then stood straight and saluted her mom, saying, "Your wish is my command mother."
Her mother smiled and slightly nodded. " Allah ya shiryamin ke Faryal. I don't know when you'll mature."
She rushed into her room, laughing. She took a bath and got dressed in a comfy long cotton gown. She combed her long, dark, thick hair and styled it into a bun. She put on her cap and medicated glasses, grabbed her veil, bag and phone, and headed to the living room to place them before going to the dining area.
As she opened the warmers, her demeanor changed, as if she was waiting for something to burst out. "I don't know why Mom loves seafood so much, mu ba yan ruwa ba amma ai ta girka mana kayan cikin ruwa ." She continued with exaggerated remarks when she served the jollof rice, she took a portion she could eat and sat down, staring at the plate as if counting each grain before uttering "Bismillah" and taking a bite.
She didn't take long to finish with the lunch, she quickly stood, took her plate to the kitchen, and headed to her grandmother's room.
She didn't find her there, but as she noticed the toilet door open, she turned to see her grandmother coming out. She rushed over, hugged her, and said, "May Allah prolong the life of this elderly woman."
Her grandmother smiled and said , "Tho sakarni, ko sai kin karyani ki yiwa ya'yana asara ki barsu da jinya."
Faryal replied, "Indeed, Dan kuwa ni bani ta asara," placing a kiss on her forehead, still smiling."Daadee, I'm heading out do you need anything?"
Her grandmother looked at her with a frowned face and said, "When did you even come back that you're talking of going out again? Because I know since your siblings went to school, it's just me and Sharmila here."
"Kaiiii Daadee but you know even now it's not closing time because I used to come back by 4 pm I just have another work to handle, that's why I left there."
She walked slowly due to a leg problem she was struggling with. She sat on the bed and looked at her first granddaughter her eyes shone with affection and said, "Okay, I heard, I just want kola nuts."
"And what?" Faryal asked with a playful tone.
"Yauwa, then that sweet that looks like cake I don't know whether you'll pass the place."
She laughed and said, "tsohuwar nan kina san dadi da yawa , so you mean basbousa, right?"
"Yauwa ita yar albarka."
"Insha'Allah, I'll bring it for you," she said. "Now, you have to pray for me." She approached her, knelt down with a deep smile.
She placed her hand on her head. "May Allah bless you and show me your marriage while I'm alive."
"Ameen ameen ya Allah Daadee, Insha'Allah soon," Faryal replied, "Dole ma ki kashe gwagwaro a cashe dake ai."
Daadee said, "I pray to allah not to kill me until I witness this day...."
Faryal's mother entered the room, saying, "Faryal, so you're here. You left me Searching for you, thinking you'd already left."
She stood up, saying, "I'm not that reckless to go out without my old woman's prayer."
She received a knock on her head from her mother, who said, "You look more older than me girl."
She ran out laughing because she knew her mother hated being told she was old or getting older, she always felt like she was in her early 30s.
She smiled and said, "May Allah protect you and take care of yourself."
She added volume to her voice and said, "Ameen maamana," as she walked out.
As she got into her car, she pulled out her phone and went to her contacts. She dialed a number saved as "Partner in Crime" and waited for the call to connect. When the person answered, she said, "Mr. Chef, are you available? I know you have a busy schedule." The person on the other side responded, "Is that now you feel like calling me after all the missed calls I've left you since last night? Okay, because you know what you did, right?"
She started the car and put it in reverse, with the phone stuck on her shoulder. "Matsalata dake rashin hakuri sai sa ba kyacin ribar duniya."
" You're even lucky I picked up the call, banza." She replied furiously.
"I'm coming to you. Are you at home?"
"Yeah!"
"Okay, on my way."
" Sai kin zo, " she said, hanging up the call.
She first went to buy everything Daadee mentioned, then called Deejah to update them that she was on the way and asked about what they did, highlighting what to add before her arrival. Then, she headed to the filling station.
There was a diversion on the way to the filling station, and everyone knows about our driving skills as girls. Before she decided how to enter, a porsche car approached from behind and went in. As she saw this, she followed their steps. Before she noticed the driver put on the brakes, which made her car hit theirs.
Two men emerged from the car. She quickly got out too and approached them, saying apologetic words, "I'm so sorry I didn't notice when you put on the brakes." She looked at the cars and found that the damage was minor, mostly on her car.
The driver seemed about to speak when the other person interrupted him, looking angry, and said........
