Called Unreasonable.
i have already lost count of how many times i looked at my reflection in the mirror . My name is Tiana and i have a date with my boyfriend Kevin . kevin and i have been dating for almost two years now and he has been worsening with his negative behavior. Before we got together kevin asked me out a long time before i accepted him and now it kinda feels like I'm the one who asked him out due to the way i have been the one putting more effort in our relationship. he even has the nerve to keep me waiting for a full hour or the other time he stood me up but whatever. i can't let this spoil my mood .
i looked back as someone opened my door and walked into my room without knocking. who else if not bestie.
"Tiana, are you seriously going to wear that?"
I looked down at myself.
"What is wrong with what I'm wearing?"
June leaned against my bedroom door, staring at me like I'd personally offended her.
"Everything" she exclaimed. and pointed at my closet .
" change it ".
" i have changed a lot of outfits already."
"I don't care , you are not wearing that ugly dress out of this house " june said crossing her arms on her chest and taking a mom pose.
I looked at the clothes lying across my bed.
"well help me choose then"
June walked into the room and picked up the black dress I'd thrown on the chair.
"This one is cute , its gonna bring out your shapely bums"
"I'm not sure about that one."
June laughed.
"You don't have a choice."
i slipped into it and turned around to look at her .
" So how does it look . I'm trying to look presentable."
"For Kevin?"
I gave her a look.
"Who else?"
She dropped the dress back onto the chair and sat on my bed.
"You know, sometimes I wonder if Kevin even realizes how much effort you put into seeing him . you used to have the best fashion sense ever now he has reduced you to wearing ugly clothes in the name of modesty."
She looked at me for a moment but i didn't reply knowing she was kinda right but i love Kevin. she stood up from my bed and held my hand.
"What?"
"listen sweetheart , you are too pretty of a girl to let kevin juggle you around, put him in his place and let him remember who you are .
"i will think about it ." i didn't want to disappoint her .
June sighed.
"He's my boyfriend , i know you don't like him but that doesn't mean i will dislike him for you."
"I'm not trying to make you dislike him. I'm trying to make sure you don't ignore things just because you love him."
I picked up a pair of earrings from my dresser. A sign that i was tired of the conversation.
I turned around as she stood up and headed to the door.
"i will talk to him about it "
She smiled and sat back down and i sat on the stool slipping into my shoes
My phone buzzed on the dresser.
I reached for it.
Kevin: I'm outside.
My face immediately lit up.
June noticed.
"He's here?"
"Yeah."
She stood up.
" Okay , Good bye dont leave lover boy waiting."
I grabbed my bag and pecked her on the cheek .with a smile on my face .
I walked toward the door, then stopped.
"How do I look?" i had already applied mascara and my favorite lip combo.
June looked me up and down.
"Beautiful as always."
I smiled.
"Thank you."
i walked out the door with her trailing behind me.

Kevin was leaning against his car when I stepped outside. 5'7 with a short afro and all black outfit.
The moment he saw me, he smiled.
"You took your precious time ."
I walked toward him.
"Excuse me? you just arrived." i said with a mock frown
"You made me wait for 10 minutes." he said looking at his watch
"I'm sorry , can we leave already.
He opened the passenger door.
"Get in."
I got into the car already feeling a bit spooked.
He walked around to the driver's side and got in.
For a few seconds, neither of us said anything.
Then he looked at me.
"im sorry babe for talking to you in that manner, im just stressed from work.
I smiled but didn't reply.
He reached across and took my hand.
"I missed you."
I looked at him.
"im taking you to the Eze's your favourite spot , lets fave a few of their specialties.."
"That's actually sweet , Thank you." i said the thought of the food making me grin.
He laughed.
I looked out the window.
Bellevui, Nigeria was busy that evening. Cars moved slowly along the main road, people crowded the sidewalks, and music played from one of the small restaurants nearby with the occasional horns.
I rested my head against the seat.
"So what did you do today?"
"Was working".
" Its the weekend "
he shrugged.
i scoffed and texted june on my phone.
We drove for another few minutes before arriving at our destination as he was driving to the parking space an unfamiliar ringtone started ringing from his phone.
I looked at him at the same time he did . he parked the car and stepped out to answer the call gesturing that i should remain sitting inside the car.
i couldn't hear what he was saying to whoever was on the line but he sent me a few nervous glances which he tried to mask . i considered stepping out but decided to just obey his wish . The call was taking too much time and i started playing The Angry Birds on my phone.
i glanced up as he opened the car and sat back on the drive seat. .
"hey what is it "
"i just got an urgent call from my workplace i need to head back , we can continue with this date another day "
i couldn't keep the look of disappointment off my face .
" Again?? seriously?? , so what im i gonna do .
"just order what you want or better still go home im kinda in a hurry"
i breathed in deeply to erase the anger i felt at his inconsiderate words , he didn't even try to coax me .
"Kevin, with the way things are i think we need a short break" i said with a frown.
"Jesus christ Tiana , only you would throw tantrums at something this small , you are being a bit dramatic" . He yelled with irritation.
i wasn't going to cry in his presence.so i got off the car Quickly and started walking away with anger ..
His car drove pass me and he lowered the window.
" i will talk to you when im back . hopefully you have cooled off and be maybe a bit reasonable ".
i gasped in shock at his words completely lost for words as he drove off .
