by Hafsat Moh'd Arabi · The Man In My Dream

Noor's life had taken a bewildering turn. As days turned into weeks, she found herself increasingly unable to differentiate between her dreams and reality. The enigmatic figure from her nightly encounters seemed to exert an undeniable influence over her waking life.

Her days at the hospital were filled with a relentless stream of patients and colleagues who showed a growing interest in her. Dr. Khalid's mysterious ailment remained an unsettling enigma, and the whispers among the staff only deepened Noor's unease.

It was as though her dreams held a mirror to her waking life, reflecting her desires and fears with eerie precision. The boundaries between her professional dedication and the enigmatic allure of her dreams blurred further, leaving Noor in a state of perpetual confusion.

In the corridors of the hospital, colleagues like Dr. Khalid and even Dr. Khalid's friends continued to pursue her, their advances marked by persistence and recklessness. Noor couldn't help but wonder if her dreams somehow influenced their actions, as if the enigmatic figure was a puppeteer pulling the strings of her reality.

The dreams themselves grew more intense, more vivid, and more haunting. In the darkest hours of the night, the enigmatic figure appeared before her, his presence both a source of desire and a harbinger of dread. Their encounters left Noor breathless, consumed by a passion that defied explanation.

Noor's contemplations about the enigmatic figure's influence on her life were relentless. Was he a manifestation of her deepest desires, or was he something more, something supernatural? The question gnawed at her, driving her to the brink of obsession.

Her once-unshakable self-control wavered as she struggled to make sense of the inexplicable connection between her dreams and reality. Noor's life had become a tapestry of mysteries, and the threads that bound her to the enigmatic figure grew stronger with each passing day.

Life had become an intricate web of mysteries, and the enigmatic figure from her dreams seemed to wield an inexplicable influence over her existence. Yet, amidst the chaos of her emotions and the unsettling events that surrounded her, there was one perplexing enigma that continued to elude her: Hanif.

Hanif, her cousin and a persistent suitor, was a frequent presence in her life. He had been a source of both annoyance and curiosity for Noor. Though she had resisted his advances and felt an inexplicable unease around him, she couldn't shake the feeling that he remained untouched by the mysterious misfortunes that had befallen others who had tried to get close to her.

Noor couldn't understand it. She had witnessed Dr. Khalid's sudden ailment, and she had seen the repercussions that followed her interactions with other colleagues. But Hanif, despite his persistent advances, remained unscathed by the nightmare lover's influence.

Anxiety and desire swirled within Noor, creating a turbulent storm in her heart. She felt a growing pull towards Hanif, an inexplicable attraction that defied her rationality. The boundaries between her dreams and reality were becoming increasingly blurred, and the enigmatic figure's influence was undeniable.

At times, when Hanif drew near, Noor's heart would race, mirroring the intensity of her dreams. His proximity stirred a longing within her that she couldn't comprehend. It was as though the enigmatic allure that had haunted her dreams was now manifesting itself in her interactions with him.

Noor's days at the hospital were marked by an internal struggle. She was a dedicated physiotherapist, committed to her work and the well-being of her patients. But the enigmatic figure's presence continued to haunt her, leaving her torn between her professional life and the desires that threatened to consume her.

As the enigma of her life deepened, Noor couldn't help but wonder if Hanif held the key to unraveling the mysteries that surrounded her. She was caught in a vortex of emotions, unable to escape the allure of her dreams and the enigmatic figure who had become an inseparable part of her existence.

It was a much-needed weekend, and Noor decided to visit her cousin Samarah, who had recently tied the knot. Samarah's husband, Farid, happened to be home as well, and their joy at seeing Noor was evident.

As they gathered in the cozy living room, the teasing began almost immediately. Farid flashed a mischievous grin and nudged Noor. "Noor, when are you going to find someone special of your own? We can't have you working all the time."

Samarah joined in the teasing, her laughter filling the room. "Yes, Noor, it's high time you settled down. We've been married for a while now, and it's been wonderful."

Noor couldn't help but smile at their playfulness. She knew they meant well and only wanted to see her happy.

In the evening, as they sat together, watching the sunset cast its warm hues across the sky, Samarah's phone rang. She answered it with a cheerful greeting, and her expression turned to surprise.

Turning to Noor, Samarah said, "Noor, could you go outside and bring Hanif inside? He said he's here to see you."

Noor was taken aback. She hadn't mentioned her visit to Samarah or anyone else. How had Hanif known she was here? She inquired further, but Samarah and Farid insisted they hadn't informed anyone.

Stepping out onto the porch, Noor found Hanif waiting. He looked impeccably dressed in English attire, his black sunglasses adding an air of mystery. He leaned casually against his sleek black car, and his presence exuded confidence.

Noor couldn't help but feel a mixture of surprise and curiosity. She hadn't anticipated Hanif's unexpected visit, she's sure it must've Nurah who must have informed him of her where a out.

As Noor and Hanif entered the lively living room, the atmosphere became even more vibrant. Samarah and Farid's laughter filled the air as they continued to tease and chat animatedly. Noor couldn't help but be caught up in the jovial mood.

Samarah and Noor decided to slip away to the kitchen to prepare some refreshments for their guests. In the cozy kitchen, surrounded by the comforting aroma of freshly brewed tea, Samarah couldn't contain her curiosity.

"Noor," she began, a sly grin on her face, "I have to admit I was quite surprised to see you giving Hanif a chance."

Noor's cheeks tinged with a faint blush as she tried to downplay her feelings. "Oh, Samarah, it's nothing like that. We're just trying, for mom's sake."

But Samarah wasn't so easily fooled. She leaned in closer, her voice hushed. "Noor, I can see the way you both look at each other. It's not just trying, there's something more there. Love, perhaps?"

Noor's denial wavered, and her eyes darted away, betraying the truth her lips were reluctant to admit. She had been wrestling with her feelings for Hanif, and Samarah's words hit closer to home than she cared to admit.

Samarah, who had once been skeptical of love during her academic days, continued sharing her own story. "You know, Noor, when I first met Farid, I couldn't stand him. He used to tease me relentlessly. But over time, those feelings turned into something else, something deeper. Love crept in when I least expected it."

Noor listened intently, captivated by Samarah's candidness. She had always admired the loving relationship between Samarah and Farid, and now she was getting a glimpse into the complexities of their journey.

Samarah added a warm smile, "And now, we're even expecting a child. Life has a funny way of surprising us, doesn't it?"

Noor couldn't help but smile back at her cousin. Indeed, life had a way of unfolding in unexpected ways. As she returned to the living room with Samarah, she couldn't shake the feeling that her own path was leading her into uncharted territory, and the enigmatic figur

e from her dreams remained an ever present enigma in her heart.
